ABOUT HOTEL MONAAL
/ CHAIL , SHIMLA HILLS
Where even time takes
a pause to standstill, pine scented fresh mountain air to breathe,
quite & lonely pathways where you can hear the occasional Hornbill,
lush green forests, silent valleys, enchanting glades, brilliant
crimson flaming sunsets, floating clouds, misty hills, velvety black
nights spread under a canopy woven with glittering jewels, serenity,
overwhelming tranquility are what make Chail 'The Dream Destination'.
Hotel Monaal, Chail,
just 45 Kms from Shimla, is a destination for Nature lovers cherishing
to getaway from the overcrowded regular tourist spots. This
idyllic hill resort, set amidst scented forest of pine and deodar,
was once the summer retreat of Maharajas of Patiala. Located even
higher than Shimla at 7300 ft ASL, Chail overlooks the glittering
lights of Solan, Shimla and Kasauli, which seem to be a part of
starlit sky. This little mountainous hamlet combines the charm &
beauty of a virgin & peaceful heaven with the splendour & elegance
of a princely preserve. Chail is always known for tasteful & opulent
style of The Royal House of Patiala.
Hotel Monaal, Chail
covers three different hillocks; one having the highest cricket
ground in the world (built in 1893) with the backdrop of snow clad
Himalayas. Playing cricket here is a great experience in itself
provided you must have a few balls to spare in your stock. The second
hill houses the Royal Palace built back in 1891 by Maharaja Bhupinder
Singh when he was expelled from Shimla by the Britishers. Set in
approx. 75 acres of landscaped area, embosomed with towering deodars,
the palace has a truly regal setting with spectacular breathtaking
vistas all around and the third hill, the highest one is the seat
of Sidh Temple
dedicated to Sidh Baba which has a very enchanting & interesting
legend behind it and as per local myth Sidh Baba is the protector
of prosperity of Chail.
The road
to Hotel Monaal, Chail bifurcates from Kandaghat (32 Kms before Shimla)
on Kalka-Shimla Highway. This 29 Kms road first steeps down to Sadhopul,
a beautiful picnic spot with a small ever flowing stream 'Ashwin River'
and then this serpentine road passing through tiny timeless mountainous
hamlets, meandering along terraced fields of paddy, climbs uphill
lined with pine, oak & deodars and finally reaches to this beautiful,
scenic & peaceful resort of Himachal Pradesh.
Chail
offers a number of activities i.e. Nature walks through Chail Sanctuary,
bird watching, trekking, jungle camp fire, camping and fishing on
riverside. The forest around Chail are alive with many species of
birds and animals but it is best known for its Scottish Red Deers
introduced by Maharaja of Patiala.Chail Sanctuary is also home for
barking deers, wild boars and neel gai
